John Nicholson was appointed as one of three Board Directors selected by the Australian Hotels Association (AHA) to represent employer members of the fund in August 2003.

As a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, John has had extensive experience in audit, taxation, business services and self-managed superannuation funds. He has also had a wide range of general business experience covering the property, manufacturing and hospitality industries.

Having worked for a large number of large to medium sized chartered accountancy firms, John operated his own accountancy practice in partnership for more than 20 years prior to forming the Taverner Hotel Group in 1999 which was subsequently sold. In 2005 John founded the Sovereign Hotel Group of which he is still Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director.

John holds a Bachelor or Commerce, majoring in Accountancy from Melbourne University. His is also a member of the Australian Institute of Superannuation Trustees (AIST).
