New research today confirms that higher fees and sales commissions could aggrevate the impact of volatile returns currently being experienced by superannuation investors. The SuperRatings research compared industry super funds with their retail counterparts and found that people in funds that returned all their profits to members could on average be better off by nearly 25% ($124,298) over their working life.

If you don't provide your Tax file number (TFN) to HOSTPLUS by 30 June this year you may pay a whopping extra 31.5% in tax on your contributions! Added to the 15% you have to pay this means nearly half your contributions will go to the taxman.
