Recent media attention has focussed on the risk of identity fraud faced by financial institutions and members of Australian Superannuation Funds.
As an industry fund working in the best interests of our members, HOSTPLUS has robust processes in place to mitigate identity theft fraud and illegal early release of superannuation funds. We work closely with industry regulators to ensure proper processes are put in place, identifying any possible cases of fraud or misrepresentation are stamped out.
ASFA released the best practice paper - A risk management framework for superannuation funds in January 2010 to assist funds in minimising the risk of fraud to working Australians. As a fund we adopt industry best practice processes and continuously review these processes to ensure they remain effective.
