If you’re a financial adviser new to SMI, we’ve prepared this short step-by-step process to assist you:

Note: Advice fees cannot be deducted from SMI accounts.
- Read about our SMI investment options and view our performance returns.
- There are two portals you can use as an SMI adviser:
- The SMSF SMI new account onboarding portal. You can use this portal to assist your SMSF clients with opening a new SMI account.
- The SMI adviser portal for existing SMI accounts. You can use this portal to access information and reports on your SMSF clients’ SMI accounts. If you have transact access on a specific SMI account, you’ll be able to, with your client’s consent, conduct most account transactions such as switch and redemption transactions, and set up application trades which your SMI client can then fund via BPAY or EFT direct payment.
To register to use these portals, start by registering to use the SMSF SMI new account onboarding portal. Once you are registered, you’ll be able to set up a new SMI account for your client to review and authorise. When you set up your first SMI account you’ll be provided with login access for the SMI adviser portal for existing SMI accounts. You can view our SMI Application and Transaction Adviser User Guide for further information on how to use these portals.

we invest
We outsource our investment management to a range of experienced specialists. JANA provides our investment consulting. Our investment funds are managed by some of the world’s largest and top-performing asset managers, including IFMInvestors, First Sentier, Baillie Gifford, Charter Hall, Wellington and ISPT.
Our team works closely with our investment consultant, JANA, to create the Hostplus SMI portfolios. We consider the following when we're creating each option:
- the amount we allocate to each asset class, country or sector
- which investment managers to invest in
- how much each investment manager is allocated
- the level of investment risk for each asset, investment manager or asset class.

Climate change

ESG integration
